WebOct 23, 2024 · Step 1. Start by applying a blue base colour and allowing it to dry. Then mix a dark, reddish brown and applied it liberally over the canvas, imagining some kind of head shape. My mix included Pyrrole Red, Azo Yellow Medium, Permanent Blue Violet and Burnt Sienna, with small amounts of Titanium White, Prussian Blue and Yellow Green. WebPreparing Your Canvas For Painting. Start with a smooth canvas, panel or board. A smooth surface makes it easier to blend and get clean lines. Give your surface a few coats of gesso and lightly sand to get the degree of smoothness you want. Check out my post on how to gesso a canvas for more info and tips.
